Ohio’s Senior Health Insurance Information Program
Q:
I recently retired and an OSHIIP representative at
Serving Our Seniors helped me understand Medicare and
my options. I am considering volunteering with OSHIIP.
Can you tell me more information about the program?
A:
OSHIIP is the State’s offcial Medicare educational
program, working with partner organizations, like Serving
Our Seniors and volunteers to help Ohioans understand
and enroll in Medicare. OSHIIP has been a part of the
Ohio Department of Insurance since 1992 and is ranked
15th out of the 54 SHIIP programs in educational and
counseling opportunities!
Volunteers drive the OSHIIP! If you are thinking about
volunteering please call Serving Our Seniors. Ask for
Patricia, OSHIIP Counselor for more information.
Or, contact the Ohio Department of Insurance at
www.insurance.ohio.gov and click the Medicare link
for the OSHIIP site.
As the Quality Assurance Manager,
I would like to say that all of us at
Serving Our Seniors are thankful
to the four OSHIIP Counselors who
donate their time and knowledge to
help others understand how Medicare
insurance works.
In the frst 12 months of their volunteer service as OSHIIP
Counselors, these individuals helped 200 people who
were confounded by their Medicare. The quality of their
work is exceptional! Thank you.
