Van Tine Co., L.P.A.  Probate  Estates  Guardianships  Estate Planning  Special Needs Planning 1410 Central Ave., Sandusky, Ohio 44870 ◄ 419.625.4010 ► Expertise you can depend on for your loved ones In 1995, Erie County Common Pleas Court Judge, Jane Lucal, envisioned a non-profit organization, to be called Serving Our Seniors, to assist older Erie county residents in need. Judge Lucal asked 41 year old, CPA, Carl McGookey, if he would volunteer to help with the preplanning and set up the accounting needed to formally establish the organization. Jane said, “We had to have confidence in the person watching over the money. Carl had the reputation for being honest, reliable and professional and he gave the organization credibility.” Carl recalled, “I always knew Jane to be straight and to the point. She told me, ‘I’m putting this group together’ and explained what needed to be accomplished. I had older parents and felt if Jane thought Serving Our Seniors was going to be a good thing for the community, I wanted to be part of it. I wasn’t going to let her down.” Carl McGookey has been volunteering with Serving Our Seniors, in some capacity, for over 27 years. He is the organization’s longest serving governing board member, filling the role of Treasurer from 1996 – 2019. Today, he continues Carl McGookey - The Gift That Keeps On Giving his support as an engaged member of the Finance Committee. Carl has had a passion for serving the community throughout his life. In addition to helping Serving Our Seniors, Carl has given his time and talents to many other boards and organizations. Sandusky City Manager, Eric Wobser, refers to Carl as the Sandusky’s volunteer Treasurer, because he helps so many community organizations. Thank you, Carl, for all that you have given to ensure Serving Our Seniors success. We couldn’t have done it without you!
