So when he returned home, he brought pickle ball to Vermilion. An active member of Lakeview Baptists Church on 591 Ferndale Avenue in Vermilion , he convinced the church to open up its building and make it available to the public to play pickle ball. “People come from Port Clinton, Sandusky, Huron and Amherst to play. They really enjoy it,” he said. Dan opens the church to the public to play year round year on Tuesday and Thursday 6pm – 8 pm. The building is air conditioned in summer and heated in the winter. Each player is asked to contribute $3.00 for one or $5.00 per couple to play. There are strict rules: No profanity, everyone in the building must treat one another with kindness and respect at all times. What’s enjoyable to watch is how this sport is inter-generational. Any age goes! Teens and tweens play against their parents and grandparents, as well as, playing against those they don’t even know. It’s challenging for all and all who play truly enjoy themselves – regardless of age. For more information, call Lakeview Baptist Church at 440-967-5104. Dan Yurovich 27
