How Far Does the Apple Fall from May 10, 2020 is Mother’s Day and June 21, 2020 is Father’s Day. So, we thought it would be fun to find Mother/Daughter and Father/Son, look-a-likes, in recognition of these well-deserved holidays. Meet Bill Djubek, age 74. He retired from several different occupations in management/purchasing; and is a former director of the Huron County Transit. He is married to his wife, Jayne. In August they will be married 51 years. They have two sons, Chad and Sean and four grand-dogs. Today, Bill likes to go to Cedar Point and dog-sit. Sean Djubek, age 41, married his high school sweetheart, Sara Johnson. They live in Columbus, Ohio. Sean works as a Transportation Manager for Worthington Industries, where he has worked for 20 years. Much of his job focuses on logistics. Personality: Both are fun-loving, comical personalities, who are proud of their counter-culture nature and their kindhearted qualities. Bill credits his wife Jayne for bringing out his compassionate side. “Jayne really changed my life when I married her,” he said. “She has raised three exceptional males – our two sons and me.” Sean agreed with his Dad’s statement and went on to say, “My wife got it easy because she didn’t have to change me. She just had to do a little tweaking.” Philosophy on Aging/Life: Bill lives one day at a time and doesn’t sweat the small stuff. “I have told the kids, in my obituary, instead of saying he died unexpectedly, I want it to say, he died as expected.” Sean believes in living life to the fullest, which is why he and Sara make travel part of their lifestyle. How are they alike: Bill said, “We are both handsome and intelligent,” he said as he laughed. “However, Sean is much, much, more intelligent than me. Sean graduated college in three years and it took me 15. Both say they have liberal political beliefs, they like to drive, one of their favorite foods is hot dogs and they like to drink adult beverages. Neither one has an aptitude for playing sports nor do they like to watch sports. They each like dogs and they are male feminists. Sean and Bill will carry their spouses purse for them, as a considerate gesture. They think nothing of doing it. Sean admits he does this because his father role modeled it for him. He proudly stated, “We both pamper our wives.” Their favorite hobbies are taking a nap and watching TV. Sean joked, he watches color TV and his dad still prefers black & white. Sean and Bill both married at age 24 and had unconventional weddings. Bill and Jayne married at Cedar Point while working there for a summer job. Jayne wore a mini- dress as her wedding dress and they were married by the Cedar Point Chaplin. At their wedding, a friend played the trumpet - “Those Were the Days My Friends” and “Good Morning Star Shine.” The Chaplin didn’t like their song choices. Sean married Sara in Las Vegas. They were married on a bridge and his bride wore an orange wedding dress. They bought a “wedding package,” which included a band. As Sean explained, “The band turned out to be this little guy with an accordion.” The accordion player asked what music Sara would like played for the wedding? Sara, replied, “Just play something dark.” So the accordion player played the theme from The God Father,” in lieu of the Wedding March. How they are different: The one big difference 6
