Working Together To Make Transportation Work for Everyone Thank you Vermilion Community Services for supporting Serving Our Seniors efforts to make transportation affordable and easy for older adults to use. In January 2020, Vermilion Community Services donated $5,000.00 to Serving Our Seniors to help us keep up with the cost of funding weekday transportation to Erie County residents, ages 60+. In 2006, Serving Our Seniors was instrumental providing a dedicated bus scheduled to serve the City of Vermilion. Today, Serving Our Seniors partially funds this bus and four other STS buses. This is done to ensure Erie County residents, age 60 and older, have access to transportation Monday through Friday. Since October 2019 – January 2020 Serving Our Seniors has paid the City of Sandusky’s Transit System $71,929.00. The bus fare to board the bus for Erie County residents, age 60+, is $1.50/1-way trip. The general public pays $5.00/1- way trip. If you would like to go to the Erie County Senior Center, Serving Our Seniors funds transportation so Erie County residents, ages 60+, can ride the STS bus directly from home to the Erie County Senior Center for free. The same applies when it is time to return home from Erie County Senior Center. For more information, call Serving Our Seniors at 419-624-1856. Ask to speak with a Senior Advocate Assistant. If you are using or would like to use the STS Sandusky/Perkins bus stop system, Erie County residents, age 65+ can ride for free. For more information, call Serving Our Seniors at 419- 624-1856. Ask to speak with a Senior Advocate Assistant. (L-R) Vermilion Mayor, Jim Forthofer; Debby Zanglin, President, Vermilion Community Services; Karl Husty, Treasurer, Vermilion Community Services. 9
