Serving Our Seniors has received a grant from the Ohio Department of Commerce for Financial Literacy Education for Erie County older adults who are retired or preparing for retirement. The project aims to help residents learn strategies on how best to afford their retirement. Serving Our Seniors will host a series of four Money Matters: Ask an Expert programs in each community, including Castalia in March, Sandusky in April, Huron in May and Vermilion in June. (See Calendar of Events, page 5). Topics cover a variety of issues on successful retirement, including Social Security, Elder Financial Abuse, investments, IRAs, debt and credit, budgeting, savings, taxes, and healthcare considerations. Local experts will share information on managing your finances. Classes are interactive with ample time for discussion and questions. We can add topics related to financial management that are of interest to seniors for Money Matters classes.
