Here are a few steps you should take: Set an income goal in retirement. Consider aiming for about 80% of what you’re earning before you retire. Increase your savings rate. I recommend putting 15% or more of your salary into savings. And, if you have a 401(k) or 403(b), contribute at least as much as the match. This is free money – don’t pass it up.
