Senior Smiles Brighten Our Days An African proverb teaches us that it takes a village to raise a child. As we age, we also learn that it takes the village to help each other age successfully. Sandusky resident Roberta uses the Sandusky Transit System bus on a regular basis. It’s her primary source of transportation. One day in September, Roberta did not board the bus as scheduled. The bus driver, Victor, was concerned and radioed to Donna, the transit dispatcher. Donna phoned the Sandusky Police, who conducted a “Well Check.” They found out Roberta was sick in bed. Victor, Donna and Roberta (feeling better!) “I can’t remember when I felt that sick,” said Roberta. “I live alone, so it really meant a lot to me, that Victor and Donna arranged for someone to check up on me. I realize they weren’t required to do what they did and I am very grateful for their concern.” Happiest of birthday wishes to Betty on her 90th birthday! Thank you to her good friend Pat Widdos for her donation to Serving Our Seniors in honor of Betty, who is a former volunteer at Serving Our Seniors. When you walk into the Serving Our Seniors office you are most likely to be greeted by our new co-worker, Deb Rogers. She joined Serving Our Seniors in September and provides clerical support to the Advocates team. Welcome, Deb! 21
