We have started the Out of Town Transportation Program again! Serving Our Seniors Volunteer Drivers are driving Erie County residents, who are aged 60 or older and functionally independent, to their health care appointments located out of town. Historically, volunteers have driven as far east as Beachwood and as far west as Toledo – and anywhere in between. We need at least 1 full week of advanced notice to arrange your ride. The cost is an anonymous donation in any amount that will not cause any financial difficulty. Other stipulations do apply. For more information call us at 419-624-1856 . Out of Town Transportation to Health Care Appointments Since the pandemic several of the volunteer drivers have opted not to return to their previous role. However, we are grateful for all they given to support the Out of Town Transportation Program, when it was operational. Today, Serving Our Seniors is asking for the help of our readers, who enjoy driving longer distances and are comfortable driving to cities and health care facilities, which may be unfamiliar. The minimum volunteer commitment is one day per month. No holidays and no weekends. YOU pick the day you wish to volunteer and you will not be asked to volunteer more frequently than you have expressed interest. Serving Our Seniors provides the vehicle. Being fully vaccinated is required, zero points on your driver’s license and passing a drug test and criminal background check.
