The Sight Center of Northwest is a non-profit agency dedicated to enriching the lives of people who are blind or visually impaired by providing education and training in the use of technology for use at home, work, school, or play. Please join us for a Low Vision Technology Expo sponsored by the Sight Center of Northwest Ohio on July 19, from 12:00-3:00 p.m. at the Erie County Senior Center. Tim Tegge, Development Coordinator from the Sight Center of Northwest Ohio, will explain how they help individuals with sight-impairment to develop daily living skills, mobility and functional independence. After Tim’s talk, the Technology Expo will offer a demonstration of various devices to allow tte dees to experience new technology firsthand. Another innovation is called “Seeing A.I.” By using a smart phone or i-pad, a person with low vision can have products on a store shelf described, as well as how much currency they carry in their wallet. Lunch of a chicken salad andwich w th lettuce and tomato, potato salad, broccoli salad, fruit cup, cookie and beverage will be served at 11:30 a.m. Cost for lunch is $3.50. Reservations are due July 15, no later than 9:00 a.m., by calling the Erie County Senior Center at 419-626-2560. The Erie County Senior Center is located at 620 E. Water Street in Sandusky. The Orcam is one device that will be featured. It clips to a pair of eyeglasses and can translate text to speech.
