His first and last name were spelled correctly. The letter was signed and looked legitimate, but still John was suspicious. He said, “As soon as I read that the letter was about an opportunity for me to collect $26.7 million in abandoned funds, I knew this can’t be right.” The writer instructed John not to tell anyone about this opportunity until the transaction was complete. The letter then directed him to call a phone number to begin the process of transferring the millions of dollars he was owed. John took the letter to the Perkins Police Department who confirmed it was a fake and expressed appreciation to John for reporting it. Copies were made and John was told the police will report it to the federal authorities. Did you receive this letter or others like it, too? We would like to know the extent to which Erie County residents are being preyed upon in this way. Please email Mail@ServingOurSeniors.org or call 419-624-1856 Serving Our Seniors and let us know.
