If you signed up for Medicare insurance within the last 12 months, you are entitled to a free New to Medicare Visit, with no deductible and no co-pay. The purpose of this visit it to create a Preventative Services Plan that will help you maintain your health as you grow older. If you have been on Medicare for over a year, you should consider taking advantage of the Medicare Wellness Visit. Medicare will cover this visit with a Wellness Nurse once a year. The visit includes a discussion of your concerns about all chronic conditions that you are experiencing; updating your Preventative Services Plan, and discussing your wishes for medical intervention should you be deemed terminal or in a permanent unconscious state. On September 19, 2019, Serving Our Seniors will be hosting a “mock” Medicare Wellness Visit with Fisher-Titus Medical Center personnel to offer a look into the process and to learn about the benefits of participating in the visit.
