The fight to end Alzheimer’s disease has become Kaye Burel’s passion. She believes we will find a cure for this condition, but not if we just sit back and wait. To help spur the cure, Kaye has taken a very active role in “The Walk to End Alzheimer’s”, a special event to raise money and public understanding about Alzheimer’s disease. It will take place on September 19, 2020 at Shoreline Park . Registration is at 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. is the ceremony and walk. Kaye said, “I am so proud and so honored to help in this fight.” Her mother, Rozene Augustus, battled Alzheimer’s disease for 12 years. She died on April 3, 2020. Kaye went on to explain, “People don’t Join Kaye’s Fight to CURE ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE understand that this is a battle that affects our society. When a loved-one has Alzheimer’s disease, it becomes your crisis, too. We all have to get involved. As we age, we are all going to find that we are either going to be caregivers or someone who needs care.” Kaye has formed a team, “Team Augustus,” in memory of her mother, and will walk on September 19th and raise money for a cure. To join Kaye’s team go to www.Alz.org/nwohio/walk. Register for Team Augustus. Or you can mail a check, payable to: The Alzheimer’s Association – NW Ohio Chapter, 480 W. Dussell Drive, Suite 150, Maumee, OH 43537. In the memo section write donation to “Team Augustus.” Meet Joanne Warren. She used Serving Our Seniors Dental Care Program, which was originally funded by a grant. Those who use it, repay Serving Our Seniors for the cost of the dental care, in an amount that is easy to afford month to month. It is repaid using the honor system. The money she repaid, without interest, is used to help the next person who needs dental care, but can’t afford to pay the large amount at the time service is rendered. Honesty and integrity are such virtuous characteristics. People like Joanne, who possess these qualities, make it easy for Serving Our Seniors to help more people age successfully, on an on-going basis. Thank you, Joanne!
