Medicare Part D
Changes in 2015
Each year the insurance plans change. Even if
you are happy with your current Medicare Part D
prescription insurance, you would be wise to call
Serving Our Seniors and ask for a Medicare Part
D appointment. We will compare & contrast your
current plan with other plans offered.
In 2015 prescription drug plans will be allowed to implement the
following changes:
• Initial Deductible
will be increased by $10 to $320 in 2015
• Initial Coverage Limit
will increase from $2,850 in 2014 to
$2,960 in 2015. This means the amount of money spent by
you & Medicare, will increase to $2,960.00, before you “fall
into the donut hole”.
• Out-of-Pocket Threshold
will increase from $4,550 in 2014
to $4,700 in 2015. This means once in the “donut hole” you
will have to spend $4,700 of your own money before
Medicare Part D will cover your drug costs through the
remainder of 2015.
• Coverage Gap
(donut hole) begins once you have spent the
$2,960.00 on medications and it ends when you spend a
total of $4,700 in 2015.
In 2015,
Part D enrollees will receive
a 55% discount on the total cost of their
brand-name
drugs
purchased while in the donut hole. The 50% discount, paid
by the brand-name drug manufacturer, will still apply to getting
out of the donut hole; however, the additional 5% paid by
your Medicare Part D plan will not count toward your out-of-
pocket costs. Enrollees will pay a maximum of 65% co-pay
on
generic
drugs purchased while in the donut hole.

Part D Plan.

October 15 – December 7, 2014 is the time
of year when you can change your Medicare
Advantage Plan – unless you qualify for
a Special Election Period due to a special
circumstance recognized by Medicare.
Have someone help you review your plan
each year so your choice is cost effective
to meet your needs. A Medicare Advantage
Plan that worked well in 2014, may not meet
your needs in 2015. KNOW YOUR OPTIONS
before you decide!
