As an outgrowth of the Gerontology Practical Experience,
which Serving Our Seniors has organized for the last
15 years, PHS Sociology/Psychology Teacher, Joe
Bores, has started a Gerontology “feld experience”.
Gerontology is the study of aging. He has 2-4 students
who will be helping those age 60+ become more
tech savvy.
If you are an Erie County resident, age 60+, and own
your own smart phone, i-pad, tablet, kindle or laptop
computer and wish you understood how to use it better…
These students can give you the help you need – FREE
OF CHARGE!
If you don’t own any of these products, but wished
someone would teach you how to use a computer, they
can help you with that too! Thanks to the Erie County
Senior Center, 620 E. Water Street in Sandusky, they are
making their facility and its computer lab available free of
charge. You are welcome to use the computer lab and the
students can teach you computer basics.
The Perkins High School Sociology/Psychology students
will be at the Erie County Senior Center on Tuesdays or
Wednesdays starting on October 1 through December
11, 2014, from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. If there is enough
interest, we can arrange for the same student to work
with you for approximately 30 minutes each week for
up to10 weeks. To sign up, call the Erie County Senior
Center at (419) 626-2560, and ask to reserve a spot in
the high school technology tutoring program.
