Linda Eyerman and Marjorie Grassnig Chris Ferguson, Quality Assurance Manager, recruited Lois Johnson about two years ago. They have been friends for more than 30 years. Lois schedules volunteers to drive for the Out of Town Transportation Program. She helps clients who need a ride to their healthcare appointments outside of Erie County. She is kind, caring, and makes a complicated job look easy. The time she gives means the world to clients, and all of us at Serving Our Seniors. Many thanks, Lois! Linda Eyerman serves on the Serving Our Seniors Community Relations Committee, representing Vermilion. She wanted to encourage other retirees to stay active by donating their time with young people. She recently recruited 12 applicants willing to donate 2 hours a week. They will be assisting in Vermilion schools this year in kindergarten activities; in elementary and middle school with reading or math; and in middle school/high school with basic life skills. To volunteer, contact Cindy Akers, Vermilion Schools Administration Office at 440-204-1723. A+, Linda for dispelling the stereotype that old people are boring! Beyond Measure the Impact of Volunteering Allen Ott, Dan Yurovich and Don Hall volunteer as drivers for the Out Of Town Transportation Program. They travel outside of Erie County, usually going to Toledo or Cleveland. Just this year, 237 clients have made 328 trips to see their physician, go for a test or treatment, thanks to these three and the other Out of Town drivers. Truly a life saver – way to go, guys and gals!
