If you have been happy with your Medicare Part D plan in 2020, don’t assume it will satisfy you in 2021. It pays to make the time to “shop around” for 2021. By shopping, you will discover what your current plan will cover in 2021 and what it won’t. If you decide against shopping for new Medicare Part D plan for 2021, you risk finding out at the pharmacy counter that the medications you thought your insurance would pay, will not do so. If you are computer savvy you can shop yourself by going to https://www.medicare.gov/plan-compare Just remember… The devil is in the details. Keep in mind that the least expensive plan, doesn’t mean you get the most comprehensive coverage. There are things like “Prior Authorization,” which means the drug might be covered, if the prescribing physician communicates with the insurance company, first. The doctor then explains why this drug is necessary and why another Medicare Part D: Getting Your Medications Covered in 2021 medication won’t work. Another detail, that can mislead shoppers is “Quantity Limits”. This means, the drug is covered, but the insurance will only cover that particular drug for a specific time frame, such as 30 pills for 90 days. After that… The consumer pays for the drug out of his/her own pocket.
