How much of your health is by choice? Do we “choose” our
own health, and therefore, have control of it? No, not really.
Many people are affected by health issues, and it is not fair
to say that all poor health is by poor choices alone.
However, we can choose to make decisions that support
healthy living and increase our wellness as we age.
Healthy living means making choices that, over time, can
improve health and well-being. Healthy living will not take
away all illness, but it will delay declines in health. Healthy
choices can also relieve some symptoms.
There is a group of Erie County partners who are working
to improve the health of Erie County residents by causing
more people to be mindful of making healthy choices. This
group is: United Way of Erie County, Serving Our Seniors,
Erie County Health Department, Erie County Community
Health Center, Firelands Regional Medical Center, Partners
for Prevention of Erie County, Family and Children First
Council, Mental Health and Recovery Board, Buckeye
Cablesystem, and Erie County Board of Developmental
Disabilities.
