Consumer Be Aware: What Medicare Advantage Plans Don’t Explain You have until March 31, 2024 to switch to a different Medicare Advantage Plan. How do you decide? Know the details of the Medicare Advantage Plan. Here is some of what the Medicare Advantage Plan ads are not telling you: Medicare Advantage Plans are private insurance companies. This means Medicare Advantage Plan customers are subject to certain rules that don’t apply to those on traditional Medicare. Know the details before you decide which Medicare Advantage Plan to purchase. For example: • Most Medicare Advantage Plans will not cover a doctor outside of a certain geographic area. If you travel, your health care may not be covered. Know the details of the Medicare Advantage Plan. • Your local hospital or a more sophisticated specialty hospital may not accept all Medicare Advantage Plans.
