Check out Hancock Community Garden on Hancock Street in Sandusky. Thanks to Kathy Hammond, who is 68 years proud and a volunteer Master Gardener, she is leading this community garden project. She needed a garden shed to store the garden tools. Thanks to the following people and organizations, it was delivered on May 26, 2023. Ralph Chamberlain, CEO, Erie Metro Housing Authority, owns the property and applied for a permit for this garden shed to be erected. Jim Spicer, VP of Operations for Firelands Health submitted a grant to the Wightman-Wieber Foundation. Wightman-Wieber Foundation funded this brand new shed. Pete Schade, Health Commissioner, Erie County Health Department agreed to have the Erie County Health Department maintain the shed in good repair. Jamie Aldridge, Owner, A & N Construction donated and spread the limestone foundation. Firelands Habitat for Humanity built and delivered the shed. Kathy invites anyone who has an interest in gardening to participate. It is a great way to meet people in retirement. For more information contact Serving Our Seniors 419-624-1856.
