Serving Our Seniors Magazine Oct-Dec 2023

Thanks to everyone who contributed their time and talent and performed at Senior Fest 2023. Although Sue Daugherty was only 8 years old at the time, she said it was the next best thing to WOODSTOCK. Check out the videos and the photos on Facebook ServingOurSeniors/ErieCounty Mrs. Carrie Leech, is the Choir Director at Sandusky High School. Last year she started an inter-generational choir, named Ageless Harmony. Serving Our Seniors recruits retirees to participate and she teaches both generations, three (3) songs. Just like last year, Ageless Harmony will perform at Serving Our Seniors Spring Show, April 13, 2024 at Sandusky High School. Practice begins January 2024. The specific time for practice is to be determined. Practice will be held at Sandusky High School. One song the choir will learn is the Coca-Cola ad “I’d like to Teach the World to Sing.” (Remember that one?) The other two songs will be from the 1960’s and 1970’s. Retirees who participate do not have to be accomplished singers. We want you to have fun and discover the joy of singing and creating harmony. This intergenerational choir allows students to inter-act with people age 60+ and get a truer picture of what being “older” really means. The two requirements to be in the choir is a commitment to attend practice and passing a criminal background check. Serving Our Seniors will pay for the cost of the criminal background check.
