Serving Our Seniors Recipient of 2016 Lavender Award
The Lavender Award is an honor given annually to
an organization that has shown exemplary use of
volunteers to meet social needs of the community.
This award acknowledges the importance of volunteer
programs within agencies that serve those in need. It
is given in memory of Mary Ann Lavender, the Founder
of The Volunteer Center.
At the award ceremonies on June 28, 2016, The
Volunteer Center presented Serving Our Seniors
co-workers, Sarah Widman and Ora Williams and the
volunteer drivers with the
2016 Lavender Award for
Excellence
for its Out of Town Medical Transportation
Program. In addition to a framed certificate, a $2,000
check from the Mary Ann Lavender Family Endowment
was given to support this program.
The Out of Town Medical Transportation Program
currently has 32 volunteers. They are: William
Bossetti, Lynn Bragg, James Cremean, Marjorie
Cremean, Bob Daniels, Sharon Decker, Tim Dunlap,
Kay Eash, Pat Ellington, Peter Fitzgibbon, Don
Hall, Gary Hinton, Anne Johnson, Jeff Justi, Paul
Kamman, Frank Lytle, Bob Mcpeek, Don Miller, Paul
Mueller, Dean Meyers, Bill Noyes, David Omlor, Nick
Pasqualini, Ron Scott, Harold Schneider, Harold
Schonhardt, Tom Surdyk, Gayle Tremmel, Earl Van
Barg, Ray Vontell, Darlene Walk, and Ken Wood.
