In this issue you will read about interesting people, one of whom we have featured on the
cover of our magazine. You will find interesting forums to attend, i.e., “Making Sense Out
of Medicare”; and a program for affordable treatment for hearing loss. You will also discover
what real people – young and old, alike – are doing to make their community a nicer place
to live. If you missed Serving Our Seniors’ “Donny & Marie Show” fund-raiser/special event
you will get a chance to see some of the fun that was had by all who attended.
Erie County is a community where 31% of its total population will be senior citizens (age
60+) by 2020. Some of us have aged better than others. If you are one of the fortunate, you
have the ability to do something –
no matter how small
– to make the community that you
live in a compassionate community for aging independently. The truth is… We all can do our
part. I hope that you are inspired by what you read and motivated to be the change you want
for yourself and other older adults who are striving to maintain their independence in their
own community.
Thank you to all of the advertisers in this issue of Serving Our Seniors Magazine. It is the
businesses that you see in this issue who are responsible for this publication being delivered
to your door at no cost to you. Please let them know that you noticed their ad and you
appreciate their advertising support as much as I do. Enjoy the summer!
Sincerely,
Sue Daugherty
