Do you have hearing loss and can’t afford a hearing aid?
Serving Our Seniors has received a grant to help 33 Erie
County residents, ages 60 or better.
Julie is an Erie County resident who applied and was
helped. She told me, “You have no idea what a blessing
this is for me. People who don’t have hearing loss don’t
understand. Some will accuse you of selective listening
and others get frustrated with you. It’s stressful. I am so
grateful that I can hear, now. Thank you so much!” Then
she gave me a hug.
To apply for a free hearing aid requires a $150.00
application fee submitted to the Miracle Ear Foundation.
Space limits me from explaining all of the requirements,
but includes the following:
• You cannot be on Medicaid
• Have a current audiogram (provided free by the
Sandusky Miracle Ear Store)
• Total household income must be at or below the
annual income of:

Serving Our Seniors will pay the $150.00 fee for those
who qualify. However, the applicant must agree to pay
back Serving Our Seniors the $150.00,
interest-free
.
The repayment is made to Serving Our Seniors each
month, in an amount that will not cause a financial
hardship. The amount is negotiated on a case-by-case
basis. Some clients are paying $5.00/month and others

Why is repayment required? The repayment allows us to
continue helping senior citizens after the grant has been
spent. When the money is repaid to Serving Our Seniors, it
is used to help the next senior citizen who can’t afford the
$150.00 application fee.
