Lung Cancer CT Screening
As part of our comprehensive, team-based approach to providing quality
lung care,
Firelands Regional Medical Center offers low-dose lung cancer CT
screenings. These screenings look for lung nodules, some of which could be
cancerous. Finding cancer early generally means that there are more treatment
options available.
You qualify for screening if you:
are between 55 and 77 years old;
have smoked within the last 15 years; and
have smoked 30 pack-years or more:1 pack (20 cigarettes)
per day for 30 years or 2 packs per day for 15 years.
Please talk with your primary care physician to set up your lung cancer
screening appointment. If you do not have a primary care physician, call
419-557-5476 to discuss self-referral options.
Financial assistance may
be available. Please contact
our Financial Counselors
at 419-557-7879.

Low Vision Techno-Expo
Losing your sight doesn’t have to mean losing your independence. There are a growing
number of technology tools that can help people of all ages work, learn, play, and live
independently with permanent vision loss. From computer software and smart phone apps
to talking devices and digital magnification products, many people are learning that they
can keep doing the things they love doing without the vision they are used to.
The Sight Center of Northwest Ohio, whose mission is to empower independence and
enrich the lives of people who are blind or visually impaired, will be presenting a
Low
Vision Techno Expo
from 2pm to 4pm on May 26, 2016 at the Erie County Senior Center,
620 E. Water St. - Sandusky. This program will include demonstrations of a sampling of
products available from
The Shop at The Sight Center
, followed by a panel discussion
from 3pm – 4pm. Panel members will include Ethan Holliger, Assistive Technology
Specialist at The Sight Center; Terry Drennan, retired automotive industry consultant, and
Tim Tegge, former client and current Development Coordinator at The Sight Center.
The panelists, each of whom is visually impaired, will demonstrate a variety of technology
products and share their own stories about living with permanent vision loss. The program
will also include time for questions from the audience. If you, or someone you know, are blind
or visually impaired, this program is for you! To register call Serving Our Seniors at 419-624-
1856 or 800-564-1856. This event is open to anyone, regardless of where you live. If we fail
to attract reservations of 25 or more, the event will be cancelled and you will be notified.
