work on time he would wake
up at 3:45 am. He would get
breakfast, clean up and do his
chores in the barn. Then he
would leave in time to be at
Cedar Point by 5:30 a.m.
After his 10 hour day, he would
go home and do more activity
– more barn chores, some
cooking and even canning.
Martha credits him for making
the best zucchini relish she has ever eaten.
There were two unexpected
benefits of working at Cedar
Point. One benefit was the
number of foreign students he
had the chance to meet. The
other benefit was he had no
difficulty sleeping and wouldn’t
wake up until the alarm went
off the next morning.
David believes that sitting is the
worst thing you can do. His advice to others is this…
“Don’t hesitate to get a job if you think you can do it.”
More Erie County Communities Recognize Kindness Matters
The communities of Bayview, Berlin Heights, Florence
Twp, Groton Twp, Huron Twp, Margaretta Twp, the
City of Sandusky and Vermilion Twp proclaimed the
importance of kindness and challenged its residents to
make care and concern for one another’s well-being
the dominant culture of their community.
Kindness benefits everyone – no matter your
age.
This is especially important in Erie County, as
31% of our population will be age 60+, in four more
years. Serving Our Seniors is motivated to raise each
person’s awareness about the social value of showing
care and respect to everyone around you. Be part of
