Project Lifesaver is a special wrist band or ankle bracelet
used to locate missing individuals who are suffering from
some type of cognitive impairment, i.e., Autism, Dementia/
Alzheimer’s disease, Down syndrome.
It is a safety service made possible by the Erie County
Sheriff’s Office and the Sandusky Lions Club. The cost is
$10.00 per month. For those who are unable to afford this
cost, the Sandusky Lions Club will help. “No one will be
turned away because of an inability to pay,” explains Pam
Straziuso, Sandusky Lions Club member.
Andrea & Ceasar Avalon, obtained the services of
Project Life Saver for their son, Conner. He is 8 years old
and diagnosed with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder).
They heard about Project Life Saver through the city of
Sandusky.
Prior to Project Life Saver their son wandered off. Although
they found him this was very scary. Without hesitation they
reached out to the Sandusky Lions Club and Project Life
Saver. A Lions Club member stopped by and interviewed
the family. Shortly thereafter, Conner had his ankle
bracelet.
“Each month a law enforcement officer comes to change
the batteries. They are great with Conner. It really is a
simple effort that adds an extra measure of safety. It
doesn’t solve all of the wandering problems, but the more
safety measures, the better,” said Andrea.

Our Seniors’ American Bandstand Show,
hosted by Dick Clark (aka John Bacon).
The show, followed by a reception complete
with hors d’oeuvres and soft drinks, will
take place on May 21, 2016, 2:00 pm at
Sandusky High School. Tickets will go on
sale April 1, 2016. Tickets $20/person and
available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
