Self Defense To Use in Later Life
For the last year, Serving Our Seniors has had the
pleasure of partnering with the Sandusky Police
Department for a self-defense training course for
seniors. Sgt. Ron Snyder and Officer Eric Costante
have delighted attendees while imparting valuable
information. For those who have not been able to
attend – here are some pointers to keep yourself safe.
•
When walking on the sidewalk at night, walk on the
curb side (closer to the street) and walk in groups of
2 or more.
•
In a parking lot, walk to your car at an angle that will
allow you a clearer visual of anything on or around
your vehicle.
•
If you are a creature of habit and make the same
stops or walk the same path on a regular basis –
change your routine periodically.
•
Find out if your block has a Neighborhood Watch in
place. If they don’t, consider starting one.
Information can be obtained through your local
police department or by contacting Serving
Our Seniors.
•
There is nothing in your purse or wallet that is worth
your life… let it go. Limit the number of valuables
you have on you at all times.
Senior Self – Defense classes will resume on
October 25, 2016. Call Serving Our Seniors at
419-624-1856 and ask to speak with Sarah for
