How Does Serving Our Seniors Use its Money to Help
Erie County Senior Citizens Maintain Their Independence?
2015 Annual Report:
Rural Luncheon Groups.
Serving Our Seniors
funded 3,410 meals to senior luncheon groups on
Kelleys Island and in Florence Township.
Ramps Program. 41 ramps were installed.
On
September 30, 2015 a total of 113 clients, throughout
Erie County, were using a ramp provided by Serving
Our Seniors. Of the 113 ramps used, 41 were new
installations.
Out-of-Town Medical Transportation Program.
410 trips to help 118 seniors get to health care
appointments located in theToledo, Cleveland,
Columbus area. Trips are driven by volunteer drivers.
Weekday Transportation Program.
Serving Our
Seniors funded 14,489 local transportation trips used
by 332 seniors.
Personal Care & Housekeeping.
47 older adults
received 2,559.83 hours of in-home service.
Handyman Program.
Serving Our Seniors funded 82
minor home repairs.
Ray & Marian Koch Fund
- addressed 23 urgent
needs of older adults (food, medicine, shelter /
housing).
Problem Solving Service.
Serving Our Seniors
received calls from 2,182 individuals who had 8,536
questions / problems /concerns. 95% of the inquiries
were resolved.
Senior Advocate Program.
21 clients / month
coordinating care and services. 13-23 additional
clients per month to resolve specific difficulties
jeopardizing their independence.
Affordable Medications Program.
Purchased 50
prescriptions for injectable insulin; helped 43 seniors/
month obtain free medications from the manufacturer.
The Drug Repository Program dispensed 657
prescriptions to Erie County senior citizens.
How to Be Your Own Healthcare Advocate.
48
individuals, age 60+, took this 8-month course.
11 agreed to a pre-test and a post-test assessing
functional capacity. Seven students showed
improvement.
Serving Our Seniors – Alzheimer’s Partnership
Project.
99 individuals attended “Chat with Brenda”,
an informal conversation with gerontologist Brenda
Hendricks, Alzheimer’s Assoc. – NW Ohio Chapter.
6 -16 people affected with memory loss attended
“Transitions” each month. Transitions is an interactive
program for those who accept their diagnosis. 20
private counseling appointments for those living with
memory loss.
Rural Home Delivered Meal Program.
Serving Our Seniors funded the delivery of
21,622 meals delivered to an average of
97 rural older adults/day living in Erie County.
16% Administrative costs.
$173,260.82 was spent on administrative costs.
84% Program costs.
$920,870.78 spent on direct service to Erie County residents, age 60+.
