Serving Our Seniors is someone to call when you need help.

Perkins High School has several
opportunities for senior citizens in our
area to become involved and share their
talents, learn new skills, receive services
and enjoy sporting events.
Shana DeRose
Smith’s
Theatre II
class at Perkins
High School
is teaming up
with senior
citizens who are
interested in
acting onstage.
After the success
of last year’s
one act play that fused teenagers
working alongside senior citizens, we
are planning to produce additional short
scenes and/or one act plays. If you enjoy
acting and are interested in participating,
please contact Shana DeRose Smith
at 419-625-1252 or email her at
.
Social psychology classes
taught
by Chris Walton collaborated with
Providence Care Facility residents
last semester through pumpkin
decorating, country line dancing,
baking, and playing card games.
Glamor Girls, lead by student Cecily
Schaefer, visit assisted living facilities
and provide manicures for residents.
If you are interested in scheduling
students to assist with projects or
services, please contact Chris Walton
at 419-625-1252 or email him at
.
If theatre and projects are not your
passion,
do you enjoy sporting
events?
If you are a sports fan
who lives within the Perkins School
District, we offer a senior citizen
sports pass free of charge for all
home regular season events. Please
contact our Athletic Office at 419-
621-2061 to get your pass!
What To Do With
Unwanted Prescription Medications
If you have unopened medications
that you hate to throw away, we feel
your pain. However, by law, we cannot
accept your willingness to donate your
medications. Here’s why:
The only professionals who are
licensed to dispense prescription
medications are doctors and
pharmacists. Serving Our Seniors
office has no doctor nor does it
have a pharmacist at its office.
Pharmacists and doctors are unlikely
to want your donated drug because it
has been in the control of the patient.
If the drug was stored improperly or
if the drug was tainted and causes a
negative reaction in the patient who
consumes that donated drug, the
liability rests with the professional who
dispensed the drug.
To safely dispose of prescription
medications, drop the drugs off at one
of the DRUG TAKE BACK BOXES
located at the Erie County Sheriff’s
Office, Huron Police Department,
Sandusky Police Department or
Vermilion Police Department. No liquid
medications. No needles.
