Serving Our Seniors is someone to call when you need help.

You can help us make
Erie County a Compassionate
Community for Aging Independently
by accepting
our invitation to become an
OSHIIP Volunteer
Medicare Counselor
.
If you have used the assistance of a volunteer
Medicare counselor, then you know about Patricia
Stineman, Bill Biehl and Keith Newton. They are Erie
County’s Medicare Superheroes.
We need four more volunteers to join them. Each
volunteer has the flexibility to pick the day and the time of
day to do Medicare counseling. As an
OSHIIP Volunteer
Medicare Counselor
you will explain how Medicare
insurance works to retirees, who don’t understand all of
their options for Medicare insurance coverage.
You can receive as much training as you want before
you are asked to counsel someone on Medicare. In
fact, you will be given every opportunity to “shadow”
the other Medicare counselors, as often as you like. So
that you don’t forget what you have learned, we ask that
Medicare counselors volunteer at Serving Our Seniors
office at least 2 hours per week. (Serving Our Seniors
staff are there to lean on if you have questions.)
As a Volunteer Medicare Counselor, you will be
helping yourself, as much as you are helping
others. For more information call Sue Daugherty at
419-624-1856 or 800-564-1856.
