Imagine the quality of your life, when answering the
phone and not always able to hear the person on the
other end of the line. Not going out to lunch with anyone
because you can’t hear the conversation. When attending
an assembly or church not hearing what is being said;
going to an appointment and taking your adult child
because you can’t hear the receptionist, the nurse or the
doctor. When family would come over, not able to hear
what is being said… So you’d leave the room.
Nancy will tell you that
when she could not hear,
it is like “you are alone”.
Because she could not
afford hearing aids, she
bought a “sound magnifier.”
When she would wear this
and would go shopping or
to the doctor, people would
ask her, “What are you
listening to?”
“I would tell them, I am
listening to you?” They thought she was listening to
music and not paying attention to those she was there
to do business. The amplifier didn’t work well, either. It
amplified all noises, but was
better than nothing.
Nancy read about the
Hearing Aid Project and
asked her daughter to
inquire. Serving Our Seniors
makes obtaining new hearing
aids, from the
Miracle Ear
Foundation
, very affordable
for those who qualify. This
includes: A household of one,
making $22,980.00 or less/
year; or a household of two,
making $31,020.00 or less/year.
Nancy said, “When Miracle Ear put the hearing aid
in my ear, it was just wonderful. I could hear again. I
had no trouble adjusting to all of the sound. It’s just
wonderful”. Today, she goes to her appointments
on her own. She enjoys eating at restaurants and is
engaging in conversation. She is thrilled to hear her
children and grandchildren when they visit.
